The Australian Peace and Security Forum expresses deepest sympathy for the families, friends and community of those who were killed or injured in the terror attack on a Jewish festival in Bondi.

We commend the courage of locals and first responders who acted to prevent further bloodshed. We call for all Australians regardless of faith, politics or race to commit to end antisemitism and all forms of racism. We reject violence and encourage constructive dialogue and compassion, including on social media. 

The actions of individuals must not undermine our open and free society. Together we can and must maintain the strength and coherence of multicultural Australia and remember that peacebuilding is a job for all of us: we are all in this together.
